Sometimes You Just Need To Relax

Some days…

Today has been a busy day, a hectic day, a stressful day. It was one of those workdays that everything piles up. I keep everything organized, but sometimes, no matter how hard you try, you get swamped. What was that saying?

“Truly nothing is to be expected except for the unexpected.”

I think it is kind of cute and precise. The unexpected has much to give, and we have plenty to learn from it. Unexpected events and occurrences can take you out of your comfort zone and make the blood flow with more vigor. It is very often the case that you will manage to improve and shine in surprising situations.

Your brain cells will become charged, your mind will be focused, and your senses heightened. You will forget about lunch, bathroom breaks, meetings, and other activities, and get in a particular kind of zone.

Your time perception is modified, and it will seem like you are approaching a black hole. A Black Hole of work, that is. You will think that maybe an hour has passed since you got off your chair, but in reality, it’s closer to four. Eh, well, time is relative anyway.

Fast (or slow) forward, and it’s the end of the day. The feeling of satisfaction and hype is there, and it’s real. If you’ve solved all your problems and finished all your tasks. Remember, an unexpected task adds +100 to XP but has a real drain on your Stamina.

That neuron (we will assume we all have more than 1) charges and discharges that happened all day long took their toll.

It is time for a break.

Option #1

Grab a bear. Sorry, I mean to say beer. That neuron just got discharged when I was just writing the word, but no matter. If you have a bear to grab, go ahead. Make sure he’s friendly and knows his manners. Don’t just go to the forest and grab any bear, it’s weird. :)

On the other hand, take a cold one out of the fridge and enjoy. Look, I’m doing it right now. Make sure it’s a good one.

Author’s beer and bear

I also have a bear. Are you trying to steal my beer there, buddy? I think not.

Option #2

Do something completely different. A while back, I got a coloring book for adults. Uuuuhh, adult coloring book. No, it is not kinky, but at the same time, I wasn’t feeling like stealing Mickey and the Paw Patrol coloring books from my daughter’s shelves.

I like it, and I enjoy coloring from time to time. I am not the artist my wife is. She is amazing. I don’t need to be, but putting pen to paper has always been relaxing to me. Okay, okay, not a pen, a crayon.

Doodle away!Yeeey!

Option #3

Grab some fresh air. Sitting on the porch, maybe on a bench in the park, or just on a blanket on the grass is the best way of doing nothing. Absolutely nothing. Except for relaxing, so that’s still something, not nothing. Still, it does need to feel like a huge amount of nothing, cause if it isn’t, or if it doesn’t, then it’s not relaxing. Or is it? Did I lose you here?

Option #4

Maybe option 3 doesn’t do it for you. Winter is coming, and all that Game of Thrones season’s greeting vibes.

Play a game. I like computer games. Board games with friends are even better if you can laugh your face off. “Crosses after the corner” as I once said to our friends. I know, it’s not funny to you, and you won’t get it. You don’t have to, but it is amusing for me. Hahehehihi. :)

That kind of inside joke is what makes a cool friendship, and hanging out with friends, one of the best things in life. Here’s to old, dependable friends (cling with my beer).

Option #5

I don’t know man (or woman). Life is full of choices. Whatever floats your boat. Just do something that makes you happy. Reward yourself for a good day’s work. You deserve a cheer from time to time. You deserve something that brings joy to your life.

It’s now after 11 PM. Today, I think I’ll cheer a bit in my sleep.

Good night!

Or have a good day…if it’s morning or day from whenever or wherever you are reading this.
