Let’s start with a deep breath. Taking deep breaths is always good for your well-being. It does not matter where you are or what you are preparing to do, you should take a few full deep breaths to get into the right mood and mindset.

Some Context…

It is ok to take a break and relax sometimes. It is, in fact, highly recommended. Your life goals and objectives, hopes, and dreams also deserve a break from time to time.

Most times, a short recess helps you put things in perspective and have a refreshed view of what you are trying to achieve.

But life is not always about achievements and goals. Most of the time, you need a break from your daily life and all the tasks and chores that come at you in rapid succession. I don’t think life was designed or intended for all work and no play, no breaks, and a lack of everyday joy. If it was, then it is just sad, and I refuse to accept that.

Here are a few tricks I use to be more productive:

Even with all that, I have to admit that I do take it on myself to reserve some quiet periods. Even though I am not lazy as a person, I do like to call that short interlude, “lazy time.”

Honestly, “lazy time” is pretty hard to get. It requires two things to be effective and to actually happen. One is planning, and the other is hard work. A bit of luck is always required, like with all things.

I don’t know about you, but I like to feel rewarded with a time-out after five days of hard work, and I regularly like to keep that time in my pocket until Friday afternoon arrives. This is, of course, not always possible, because of my volatile work schedule, but I do like to plan for it whenever possible and imagine it all the time. It just makes life more enjoyable for me.

Some Memories…

Since I can remember, I have enjoyed Friday afternoons and evenings most. When the school week ended, and I used to get out of school after 1 or 2 PM, it was the best time to be alive. So much free time was available for allowing fun things to happen. It was a carefree period for many, many years. Then, you start to grow older and realize that things start to pile up in your mind and surroundings.

Even though that progressed and is still ongoing to this day (the lack of a carefree life, that is), I still find joy and happiness on Friday afternoons. It is one of the constants of my life. French fries, the love of my wife, and Friday afternoons. Yep, constants, nice to have. Useful to keep you anchored in reality and remind you of what’s important in life.

I don’t think you can beat childhood memories very easily, and maybe you are not supposed to do it anyway. I think they are supposed to be a guide into what you can do to have similar happy memories, or better ones if you can.

So, lazy thoughts, lazy thoughts. Hmmm…they can be whatever you like. All you have to do is make sure that they are not related to daily work tasks or other personal issues. No lazy thought is the same and, because we all have our personal preferences, there is never a better time to indulge in them than the time you set aside for your mind.

There was some sort of a saying somewhere that said lazy people come up with the most creative ideas. This presumably happens because of two things. One is because they have a well-rested mind, and the second is because they try and find the best solution to decrease the amount of work they have to perform to complete a specific task.

Of course, this is supposed to be more on the funny side, as I honestly don’t know any lazy people that have had real success with that. However, I have met overworked people. I would say the point in this is to have a balanced life.

Some Hope…

Personally, I find Friday afternoon comforting, you might feel the same, but if you don’t, it just means you have other things to look forward to. You have other things that relax you, destress you, calm you, and other things that help you create new splendid memories.

So, maybe let me know what other lazy thoughts you are having, as I am always curious to find new hobbies.
