Let’s keep it short. Fridays are awesome. The End. Thank you for reading, see you next time.

I am kidding, kidding, kidding. Don’t go! :)

But seriously, who here does not believe that Fridays are not something a bit special? Am I the only crazy sane person here?:)

The Why

There is, of course, one main reason I think Friday is such a rewarding day. That reason starts with a “W” and ends with “eekend.” Haha, funny man, you might say. Or not.

In any case, let’s talk about it. I know for most of us, Friday is still a workday. People that don’t work in shifts, or are not yet lucky enough to live in a country/state where the 4-day workweek is a fact, can have a lovely day.

It is a matter of perspective. Personally, I know I still have to wake up bright and early, make breakfast for the family, prepare the little one for school and get ready for work.

But

In my mind, Friday has always been the first day of the weekend. Even in school, Friday was always a fun day. We either had easier classes or fewer classes. The mood was always more relaxed, and everybody would make plans for Saturday and Sunday, prepping for the “real weekend.”

Friday tests and pop-quizzes could ruin the mood if there was a bad grade involved, or could substantially raise the bar if an “A” was on the horizon.

Now, I tend to do the same regarding work. Whenever possible, I try to perform the more difficult and time-consuming tasks in the first days of the week, thus making Friday a bit more relaxed. It is not always possible, but I try to set myself a specific mindset. That way, I can make work more enjoyable and give myself another reason to enjoy life.

Still

I don’t want to give the wrong impression here. I love what I do for a living, and it is exciting and rewarding 95% of the time. Still, I believe that no matter how much you love your job, you still need a break from it. Before fully disconnecting on the weekends, you need to take your foot off the gas for a while and let it roll from inertia.

If it were up to me, I would have four workdays and three fun days every week. A job gives you purpose in life and is truly rewarding, but, on the other hand, life is short, and you need to enjoy it whenever possible.

So

The rules of the world have put Friday in the lucky seat and have given it the chance to offer you more than other days. I am sure Monday would change places with Friday in a heartbeat if it were up to it.

It isn’t up to Monday. It isn’t even up to Friday. It is up to you to take all the chances you get. You can take all the days and minutes and tiny glimmers of time that you can gather and don’t lose it, win it. Enjoy life, relax and try to make the world a better place.

Hell, it’s Friday right now. Peace out!
