Electric Cars Are The Future

Now I Need To Just Buy One

Electric cars were the talk of the moment five years ago; now, they are just part of our daily lives. The price of EVs has gone down, almost all the car manufactures have started to launch electric cars, and charging stations have popped up all around the world. Today, when shopping for a new car, an electric one is one of the first options to study.

There are a few reasons I consider an electric car and why I would like to own one.

Cars For Techies

Of course, I am a bit of a tech nerd, so it makes sense that this would be one of my reasons to pick an electric car.

Honestly, I like Teslas. Their minimalist and teched-out interior hit the sweet spot for me. A clean interior that doesn’t distract you from the actual driving is a hard thing to achieve. Sometimes it is easier to add than to remove. The tablet itself is every nerd’s dream.

On the other hand, other established manufacturers have also stepped up their game in the high-end market. Mercedes, Audi, Porsche, and others have brought real competitors to Tesla in the last couple of years. I am not going to say no to someone that’s offering me one of the above. No, really, go ahead, promise I won’t mind.

Still, to me, Tesla seems to be trying new things and thinking outside the box just a bit more. Other car companies are also bringing new tech and ideas, and they are catching up fast.

I am sure not all of Tesla’s experiments will be successful, but I always appreciate innovation as it is the thing that moves us forward.

Reliability

Having owned a second-hand car, I know all the quirks and issues that can suddenly make their presence known. That is why I bought a new car after that. I have had no problems with it since I had it.

I do, however, have remnant memories of all the troubles the first car had caused me. I said, never again, and that’s why I got a new one.

An electric car has far fewer components and is way simpler than an ICE one, making it less prone to failures. Even if something would fail, theoretically, it should be easier to fix.

There’s also the fact that you should have to do less maintenance on it. No oil changes, fewer brake changes, and of course, none of that flammable liquid called gasoline.

The Environment

Let’s get one thing straight. Making a car of any type, and making any components for it is damaging to the environment. Anything we produce in factories that don’t use renewable energy sources and use substances excavated from the earth is damaging.

However, various studies show that over their lifetime EVs are less harmful to the environment. Fewer components also mean fewer rare elements are needed to build them.

Then there’s the big one. OIL. No oil usage means less CO2 emissions. An all-EV future means I will be able to breathe cleaner air when I go outside. I am going to be able to live a healthier life. Hopefully!

Yes, generating electricity from non-regenerable resources is not going to help. If the world moves towards a fully renewable energy source model in the next 20–30 years, that’s not going to be a problem at all. We’ve already made significant steps towards that future.

Others Things: Recharging, Performance, Way Of Life

Instant torque and acceleration. Yes, please.

Recharge at home and save time.

Even better, recharge at home using solar panels.

Live in a quieter world and be more relaxed.

These are the other things that get me excited. I know that there are also cons to having an electric car, such as the actual range and the time it takes to charge.

I am not worried about those things. Either I charge at home and don’t care about the charge time, or spend 15 more minutes in a gas or charging station to charge the car, it is the same to me.

As for the range problem, as long as I don’t buy something with a 100-mile of actual range, I think I’m going to be ok.

Expectations

I am looking forward to my first electric car. Whether I get it now or in a year or two, I know that it will change my perspective altogether.

The industrial revolution brought a new face to the world and forever changed it in the 1800s. We already live in an electric world, but I am sure that a world with only electric cars will have a massive impact on our way of living.
